Reviews

'Jimmy isn’t a stranger to the pages of Odyssey, as he has been a contributing writer in the past. I feel his work is crucial and would be an excellent addition to the school curriculum. What he talks about is the stuff everyone should know. Jimmy has described his view as M-D (Multi-Dimensional) Thinking. For example, have you ever felt depressed about something in your life? Well, as Jimmy proposes, striving towards opening one’s mind / perception and thinking ‘large’, one is often able to see the situation from a different viewpoint, and consequently, the event seems entirely different. It’s only when one focuses on the small details of the said event that one becomes caught in the drama of it all. The book is littered with DIY exercises for visualisation, meditation and so on, to assist one to live a more integrated and truly spiritual existence, ‘freed from the trappings of the (small) mind.’

My latest book on Multi-Dimensional Thinking

This is my latest book in which I attempt to de-mystify the process of spiritual development by linking it to accepted scientific and psychological research as far as possible and viewing it in terms of a gradual learning curve which involves the completion of certain developmental tasks and the learning of new skills relating to thinking and perception. This process leads to a new enhanced state of self-actualization and fully conscious living which I call ‘Multi-Dimensional Thinking’.
My book contains a series of exercises to deal first with important ‘tasks’ such as overcoming obstacles to self-development, which include blocked emotions, self-defeating thoughts and beliefs and closed paradigms of thinking. Second, it provides training in new skills designed to unleash the true creative power of the mind, building new levels of confidence, self-understanding and the development of latent psychic abilities.
The processes
I believe it is not really possible to reach higher levels of self-actualization when one is caught in a web of fear-based thoughts and actions based on unpleasant memories from the past. I therefore use my counseling and therapeutic experience to gently move you through a series of systematically graded exercises which are simple and yet designed to help you achieve mastery of the tasks and skills required to deal with your past and to shift into the light of fully conscious living and a higher spiritual experience.
As you enter your learning curve, your first task will be to strive for a state of ‘emotional wellness’. This is the ability to ‘balance’ emotions and build resilience to day-to-day concerns. This period of ‘healing’ is necessary to provide a foundation for the higher processes which come later. For this healing stage, I recommend a ‘toolbox’ of common therapeutic techniques, such as journaling and rational-emotive exercises to help you release suppressed emotions and challenge self-defeating beliefs.
The second task to be completed is ‘emotional empowerment’, which is related to building a healthy self-image and high self-esteem. In this regard, you will be guided through exercises on learning to forgive, to know and to accept yourself.
At this point the focus shifts to thinking and the importance of having a clear and open mind. I explain the dangers of a closed paradigm of thinking and provides exercises that can bring about a shift to a more open and flexible paradigm which will allow you to process and include new experiences and ideas. You will also be shown how to think holistically and to combine information from various areas of knowledge such as the natural and human sciences, philosophy, symbolism, semantics, metaphysics and even religion to deal with important questions in life.
Having dealt with the past, cleared unwanted debris from your mind and ‘shifted gears’ to a more universal paradigm of thinking, you are now ready to access higher levels of knowledge and understanding. At this point I introduce you to exercises to safely raise your consciousness and sense perception.
The slope of the curve has now increased and you are now provided with techniques to develop new ‘skills’ such as heightened sense perception, intuition, psychic sight and a conscious connection with the higher self, all associated with a higher spiritual experience or ‘spiritual wellness’. However, the most important task at this time involves building a relationship with your subconscious mind, as this will provide the underlying power for these advanced skills. This relationship is achieved with the help of exercises on dream-interpretation, symbolism, imagery and learning to respond to communications from the subconscious in the form of impressions.
Finally, I will lead you in exercises involving meditation, visualization, contemplation, the development of intuition, heightened perception as well as other psychic ‘gifts’ such as higher sight, visions and inner spiritual guidance. While it is true that these skills cannot be developed or perfected overnight, I clearly explain the correct processes and using the journal provided, you will be able to monitor your progress over time.
As the end of the developmental ‘curve’ is approached, I prepare you for a meeting and a merging with your higher self or soul, your true spiritual identity. This re-integration of your inner and outer self introduces the final stage of self-actualization which leads to a state of expanded ‘mindfulness’ and perception called ‘Multi-Dimensional Thinking’.
Finally, I show you how to apply these skills to your everyday life and to move on to a new life filled with meaning and power.

In Search of the Oracle

This is my first book self-published in 2002. It contains information on an advanced visualisation technique which accesses the collective subconscious in search of information on God, mankind and a higher spiritual reality. It will make sense to those of you who are familiar with the processes of meditation and visualisation and provides a simple and powerful means of accessing inner knowledge.
Here are some reviews on the book
' Buy this book, it is excellent, well-considered and clear. And it works with you using your personal imagery through a running 'Oracle' visualisation of the seeker (you!) of knowledge. In the process it deals with questions on God and Spirit; who we are (eg the purpose of man) ; morality; freedom and responsibility, the role our mind plays in all this; the nature of life; and personal reveleation of truth. The author's own example (an inner Guru on a mountain top) is used extensively throughout, but can be skipped (passages are clearly marked and in italics) . It would be a pity to do so, though, since the book really speaks in two voices: that of the Oracle and that of the author, who clarifies and and elaborates on the Oracle's utterances. Whetrer you choose to do the visualisations yourself (highly recommended) or just read it for spiritual illumination, there is truth and depth in these pages.' CM (Odyssey magazine October /Nov 2002)
' Jimmy Henderson is a Christian mystic and philosopher with an integrated and holistic approach to life. This book reflects his current thinking in trying to reconcile aspects of science, psychology, religion and mysticism to a higher universe of energy and Spirit. This is a book for thinkers. It is not a light read but contains profound thoughts and insights. Written as an allegory of a seeker following a path up a mountain to consult an oracle, it contains a truth, as understood by the writer, that the reader may accept or reject.'
